David Bohega’s team clung to salvation by scoring four goals against Rayo Vallecano. The Juvenil División de Honor knew they had to make a statement in what was considered the toughest match of the season’s final stretch. Playing away and against a sixth-placed rival, the team rose to the occasion, securing their best result of the season with a 0-4 victory over Rayo Vallecano, allowing them to sleep outside the relegation zone that night.
From the start, it was clear that the two teams’ difference in the table was not evident to those unaware of the situation. The Juvenil had a dominant start, with significant presence in the opponent’s half. Casca attempted a shot from outside the box before the 10th minute, but missed the target. However, Iñigo found the back of the net with a precise shot that hit the post and went in, giving the team an early lead.
In the following play, Mesonero almost scored an own goal, but his goalkeeper made a crucial save. Less than ten minutes later, Iñigo capitalized on a rebound from his own header to make it 0-2. The first half ended with a comfortable lead for Rayo Majadahonda, as the Rayo Vallecano side struggled to make an impact on the game.
The second half saw Rayo Vallecano pushing for a goal to reduce the deficit, but Rayo Majadahonda remained composed and continued to create chances. Cheik forced a great save from the goalkeeper, while Casca narrowly missed a shot. However, it was Iñigo who shone brightest, completing his hat-trick with a clinical finish from inside the box, sealing the victory with around half an hour left to play.
The remainder of the match was uneventful, with Rayo Vallecano showing little fight after the break. David Bohega made substitutions to rest some players and allow Iñigo to receive applause from the traveling fans. One of the substitutes, Titi, made a powerful run down the right wing and delivered a cross that was ultimately converted by Cheik in the heart of the box, securing the 0-4 win. The team now looks ahead to solidify their position outside the relegation zone in the upcoming match against Fuenlabrada.
