El Rayo mantiene el empate ante el Sant Andreu

The Majadahonda team had a great first half. During the second half, they were able to play with an extra player for thirty minutes, but they couldn’t score.

Rayo Majadahonda finished fourth in the fifth group of Segunda Federación after accumulating 55 points and winning by four goals against Tenerife B in their last away match. This secured them a spot in the promotion playoffs to Primera Federación, where they could potentially face the third-placed team from group three, UE Sant Andreu, who earned 60 points under the guidance of their coach, Xavi Molist. The first leg took place at Cerro del Espino, with the return leg scheduled at Estadio Narcís Sala.

During the first forty-five minutes, Rayo Majadahonda started with determination and the atmosphere at Cerro del Espino was supportive. The players were motivated, maintaining high pressure to limit the opponent’s space. The Rayo team created opportunities from corner kicks, getting closer to scoring with each attempt. Guillermo Berzal had two clear chances, including an acrobatic overhead kick. The players headed into halftime eager to score a goal that would set them apart from their opponent.

In the second half, Rayo continued to push forward, looking for crosses and shots from the visitors’ area. Berzal remained active, but the game changed when Guti initiated a solo play that led to the opposing defender receiving a red card. Sergio Castillo was sent off, giving Rayo Majadahonda the advantage of playing the remaining thirty minutes with an extra player. However, it was goalkeeper Adrián Fernández who came to the rescue with crucial saves. Arribas also cleared a dangerous ball towards the Rayo goal. Substitutes Hugo Esteban, Ebea, Salama, and Simeone provided fresh energy, and Kevin made a final attempt from the left wing.

Rayo maintained the draw, and the tie will be decided at Narcís Sala on Sunday, May 18th at 5:00 pm. They will compete for a spot in the promotion playoffs final to Primera Federación.
